How to Select the Right Hotel

• Guest Reviews:  Read the Guest Reviews.  Always start here.  There is no use wasting your time if some other guest took the time to write a negative review.

• Age of Property/Newly Renovated?  See how old the property is, especially if it is ranked less than 3 stars.  Has it been newly renovated?  Does it offer high speed wi-fi internet access?  If it does you can be reasonably sure that it is under good management.  If not, move on.

• Security:  Security should always be an issue, especially for women, small children, and youngsters.  Does the property have insider corridors?  If not, move on.

• Safe Part of Town?  Is the hotel in a safe part of town?  You ask how can I tell this?  Easy, just use our unique visual searching and mapping technology (available in the largest US cities).  Click on the the logo at the top of the page to go to our homepage.  From the city map page you can search by star rating or chain name.  If there are several properties depicted on the map are in the same area you can feel comfortable.  Also, read the guest reviews for any safety concerns.

• Star Rating:  Check the star rating.  Mobil Star ratings are the best and most accurate.  Diamond ratings are the next best source.  Hotels that are ranked 3, 4, or 5 star are the class.  2 stars be cautious.

• 2 Star Rating?  If a property is rated 2 stars, there is a reason for it.  It may offer you a better rate but the tradeoff is quality.  Very importantly, if you have any problem (room, cleanliness, security, etc.), you will have a harder time getting your money back.  Ask yourself, is it really worth the risk and hassle to save a few bucks?
